First I have an old ASUS board that I really like and I have a 775 socket intel extreme cpu in it. The main problems are:
1) Really bad sound stutter, buzzing and and freezes. All caused by the sound problems and I have tried everything. Reinstall of audio driver works for a week or so but problem creeps right back in. And sometimes it's so bad I just want to hit it with a hammer.
2) Browser performance problems with video play, hang ups as pages load. And normal ads running in page causing problems.
3) There are really no windows 10 drivers for this board But when system runs and does run fast and smooth but having to reinstall certain drivers once a week or more often was becoming a headache.
The fix? There are 2 free programs to download. One is called DPC latency checker. You can download and read about it here: http://www.thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml
Read how you use it on that page. It will help you trace down the problem or problems.
I traced mine down to drivers. problem there are no windows 10 drivers so what to do? First using the program above I found that when the buzzing and stutter was going on the lines in the read out where way up in the red. How to fix I thought? Well red is to
much load and messing up stuff. So a load controller program is needed so I started my search. Came across a program called process laso it's also free. It can be downloaded here.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/process_lasso.html
Using the first program as a gauge to keep the lines mainly out of the red I was able to use the second program to tweak the system to where it mainly did stay out of the red. This process laso solved every problem I was having. And unless you know what you
are doing once you get your pc working pretty good best not to try and keep tweaking. It's got gobs of settings to keep your system from being overwhelmed and processes from fighting each other over cpu time.
My pages load fast, pages do not hang during load up, videos play smoothly, games run like a dream what more could I ask for?
Now it's not about turning the performance up. It's about balancing the load from everything to the cpu so there is no more fights between everything running for cpu time.
What are my settings? I'm still doing lettle tweaks to get it just right. And every computer is different. What you want on the first program color graphs from what I am experiencing. Are settings that keep the graph mainly in the green and yellow areas while
you cpu is under load. And occasional reds but not spiking too high on the graph though. The high spikes of the reds is what causes all the problems.
When I first ran the first program I never saw any green areas on the graph. Just yellow and reds spiking to the very top of the graph. The process laso has enabled me to fix this and because it works so well, if they would have been charging for it. I would
have paid for all that it has done for my pc. Now you have to have the first program installed to be able to adjust it correctly and then tweak the settings a little.
Side note: At one point I had it all in the green. After doing that I looked into the laso program at cpu load. And regardless of running programs the cpu was acting as if it were idle. First thought that came to mind. Someone could take this program and use
it on a lap top to make the battery last 100% between charges by balancing cpu load. I will install this on mine and test to do that.
So here are my settings so far still tweaking.
Going to high in the % on when the program cuts in to balance things will send the graph into the red area which is what you mainly want to stay away from.
