Windows 10 Pro on a Gateway PC fully loaded is WiFi connected to an Asus RT-N66U Router connected to the WAN. I have found that my friend's computers connected through the same WiFi using the same login and password can see all of my files, documents, log files, etc.
The issue appears to be as follows;
- my PC is configured as non-public in setup with everything exposed so that my Firewall labels my network as PRIVATE
- If I change my system to Non-Discoverable with no sharing, my Firewall labels my network as PUBLIC
- Sometimes it is very difficult to set all of the check boxes so that my Firewall labels my Network as Private.
I would like to have control over the SHARING of documents that I would like my friends to access without my whole computer network having a hissy fit that I am insecure. I would like to click on the file(s) I want to share and let me friends know when to drop in and get the documents and then I would like to return the Shares back to Not Shared. This should be simple but it is not. (That is, I can't find out how.)
The documents are Office files and spread sheets that we use to share ideas and other documents.
