A customer brought in a Dell Inspiron 3650 that he bought around six months ago. He said Windows 10 did an update a few days ago and now his mouse doesn't work. It is not only the mouse that doesn't work the keyboard doesn't work either. As soon as windows
starts, the mouse and keyboard go dead. The keyboard and mouse work fine in the bios and when using a recovery disk, but no way to get any response when Windows 10 boots. The lights even go out on bot the keyboard and mouse. I've tried all possible options
for USB ports in the BIOS (no joy), I tried several restore points, but they all fail. Windows automatic repair from a recovery disk doesn't recognize any problem, SFC /scannow finds no problem, Chkdsk finds no problem, built in hardware diagnostics finds
no problem. I even managed to use the command prompt on the recovery disk to start in safe mode but the keyboard and mouse drop out when booted even to safe mode. When I tried to do a reset it said "There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made.
The only thing that works once windows boots is the power button. What can I do at this point?
