I just got a new windows phone my 8.1 win phone finally dying on me and nothing shows up on the whats new tab in the People App. I did some searching including on this site and its not clear from all of the posts I found if this is a feature that has been removed, or has never been supported by other companies facebook and twitter, or if this is just still coming. Most of the posts were from 2015. So here are my questions

Does People app still support social integration the whats new Tab. Doe=s it support it for Facebook? When you go to settings and select "Get Social Apps" it takes you to the store and returns 4 apps one of which is twitter. I can install it from here but there is no integration. Same with both facebook and Facebook(beta) they can be installed but they do not get integrated. Some posts have suggested they need to be enabled in the social applications but they are not at the menu location suggested, infact I cant find a setting any where in any of the apps that enable integration.

So its 2017 perhaps some one can give an update.

I feel that I have been robbed out of my free download for Windows 10 Home 1607 English for the following reasons.  

I fail to understand when I purchased every Microsoft Platform, including Windows XP and a valid Windows Home Premium 7-32bit in English, Lic., 36587911100001 and Microsoft advised me that I was eligible to reserve my download, which I did.  When I was advise to download Windows using the download tool to perform the installation I thought all went well.  I am an expert in computers and especially security going back to IBM.  In fourteen years I have never had one spyware, Trojan, Virus, Rootkit, Adware, Bots, PUP's or any kind of malware in my computer.  Still for some unknown reasons while I am working on my desktop computer, the screen will turn blue with an unknown problem.  Microsoft runs a repair diagnostic test and fails to find any problem, but I am still left with the "repair screen".  

Last week Saturday the very same unknown problem happen again with Windows 10.  This time my software engineer, Cindy installed Window 7 Ultimate 64bit I assume with a OEM key.  (I always want to stay safe with the latest platform, due to the nature of my work. Do not wish to go backward).  Being that this is the forth time, same problem, that Microsoft has no answer to or able to repair, because there  is nothing to repair in my system.  

This is the fourth time this has happen. I have a software engineer, Cindy from Hong Kong, and likewise she is unable to find any problem with my memory, HDD, or embedded malware.  I have no idea how she obtained a disk of Windows 10 that is 1/2 English and 1/2 Spanish.  Cindy performed a reinstall for times and still I get the same unknown problem that Microsoft has no knowledge of the cause.  Plus I fail to understand how 1/2 English 1/2 Spanish can work.  

I reside in the city of Panama, for security reasons. The Taliban, and ISIS want me dead for protecting women from sexual abuse in my four years in Iraq, Afghanistan and two years in Syria.  They almost killed me in Syria, blowing up my hospital my sending a very young girl packed with a bomb under her clothing.  When she saw me she blew herself up killing all of my patients in the hospital. I sustained very serious injuries, and I asked to be flown back to Panama to have very serious major surgery performed. All of my intestines were twisted, because my stomach looked like I was nine months pregnant.  My left hand had about 100 nails embedded in my skin.  The surgery was performed and went well.  My left hand took one year to heal, kept getting infected.   

I am a American Medical Volunteer medical doctor since 1967 treating people world wide for no personal financial compensation. I am 78 years old and my work is supported with donations. 

Of late donations have been very bad, so I do not have the money to purchase a Windows 10 Home, 64bit English and perform a clean install.  I was hoping that there is away I can get Microsoft to give me a valid download of Windows 10.  

Please is there away that Microsoft can download Windows 10 Home 1607 64bit back down to my computer.  There are no Windows 10 Home in English here in Panama.  I do not wish to have Spanish installed, being that my Spanish is not that great.

¡Hola! Este último día 25, por la tarde encendí el ordenador y Windows comenzó a actualizar (creo algo así como Windows 10 Creators Update). Terminado esto, me doy con la novedad que el sonido ya no funcionaba. Antes de continuar diré que mi equipo es un Acer Aspire XC-705 con el sistema operativo Windows 10 Home. El ícono del altavoz que está abajo a la derecha en la barra de tareas, aparece con una cruz en un circulito rojo, que significa que no está operativo. Tocándolo aparece esta leyenda: "No hay altavoces ni auriculares conectados".

Dando clic derecho sale: Dispositivos de reproducción- Dispositivos de grabación- Sonidos- Solucionar problemas de sonido. He dado todos los pasos que se indica. El dispositivo Realtek High Definition Audio estimo que está bien, por cuanto al conectar el auricular en el ordenador, sale sonido, y desaparece por supuesto el circulito rojo abajo. Al desconectar el auricular, no hay sonido en el altavoz de la pantalla usando el ordenador, pero sí sale sonido con la televisión. Entonces, la pregunta es cómo hay que hacer para conectar el altavoz y salga el sonido. Me queda manifestar que también hice una restauración del equipo partiendo de cero, con las dificultades que ello conlleva. I bought a new PC with Windows 10 installed (it was the shop floor model). I then downloaded Microsoft Office Personal which shows in my account as being activated but all of my Office apps (Word, Excel, etc) show 'demo' and don't have the full functionality.

I've searched on the PC for an office demo mode app or program but can't find one.

1. After install Mouse without Borders, you will see a Setup dialog. You can also bring up this dialog anytime by clicking on the Mouse without Borders system tray icon on the taskbar.
2. In the first machine, click NO on the first dialog. It will brings you to the second dialog where you see the security code and machine name. Keep the dialog open and go to the second machine.
3. In the second machine, click YES to the first dialog then enter the information that you got from the first machine.
4. Click LINK to link the two machines, after the machines get connected you can simply move the mouse cursor from one machine to the other, keyboard input follows your mouse cursor to the other machine as well.

Known issues

• Copy/Paste between machines only works with a single file and the size limit is 100MB.

Tips and tricks

Lock/Unlock all machines at once

Hit Ctrl+Alt+L twice to lock all machines. To unlock all machines, first switch to multiple mode (default hotkey is hitting Ctrl 3 times fast) then keyboard will repeat in all machines.

Ctrl+Alt+Del in the remote machine

This is supported in Windows 7 and newer versions of Windows. Please follow these steps in every machine, this needs to be done once per machine: 

1. Enable SAS to allow the Services:
a. Run gpedit.msc (Edit group policy)
b. Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Logon Options > Disable or enable software Secure Attention Sequence, select Services in the Dropdown box.

From now on you can use Ctrl+Alt+End is to simulate the CAD in the slave machine.

Disable/Enable startup with Windows

To disable the app from automatic startup when Windows starts, run this in the command line window: sc config MouseWithoutBordersSvc start=demand

(You can also do that in the Windows Service Manager (services.msc))

To enable the app to startup automatically: sc config MouseWithoutBordersSvc start=auto

Add a hotkey to start the app

Windows does support this for any app, you just need to create a desktop shortcut on the app ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Garage\Mouse without Borders\MouseWithoutBorders.exe") then you can configure a hotkey for the shortcut.

Btw, the default hotkey to exit the app is Ctrl+Alt+Shirt+Q

Firewall Settings for Mouse Without Borders

Mouse without Borders setup automatically adds itself to the Windows Firewall allowed program list. But few users found these steps helpful in some cases to allow and customize the tool through Windows Firewall:

1. Click on the Start button then click on Control Panel.
2. Click on Administrative Tools.
3. Click on Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.
4. Select Inbound Rules on the right tree.
5. Click on the New Rule... in the Actions list on the left.
6. Select Program option and click next.
7. Browse to select Mouse without Borders application (%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Garage\Mouse without Borders\MouseWithoutBorders.exe) and click Next.(In X64 machine the path should be %ProgramFiles(X86)%\Microsoft Garage\Mouse without Borders\MouseWithoutBorders.exe)
8. Select Allow the connection and click Next.
9. Select all options for “When does this rule apply?” and click Next.
10. Enter the name for the rule and click Finish.
11. The rule should now show up in the list, you can double click on it to view details and make change.
12. Restart Mouse without Borders.

(If you have multiple network interfaces, wired and wireless, you can also customize to allow the application on the type of interface in step 11 above – In Advanced tab, click on Customize. Mostly you would always want to allow the application through the Local area network).

Skip .Net check when installing the app (or manually install the app)

The installer checks your system to make sure you have a required .Net version 4 before installing. Few users have reported that the installation is blocked even the .Net version is already installed. Some registry key is probably corrupted in this case, to work around this you can run the installer without UI option: msiexec /i MouseWithoutBordersSetup.msi /qn

You can also manually install the app using these steps:

• Create a folder C:\MM
•  Download the file MouseWithoutBordersSetup.msi to that folder.
•  In an elevated cmd windows (run as Admin), run the following commands:
  •  msiexec /a "C:\MM\MouseWithoutBordersSetup.msi" /qb TARGETDIR="C:\MM\Bin" /l*v "C:\MM\Install.Log"
  •  sc create MouseWithoutBordersSvc binPath= "C:\MM\Bin\Microsoft Garage\Mouse without Borders\MouseWithoutBordersSvc.exe" start= auto DisplayName= "Mouse Without Borders Service"
•  Manually add the program (C:\MM\Bin\Microsoft Garage\Mouse without Borders\MouseWithoutBorders.exe) to the firewall exception list (allow it through firewall).
•  You can now create a desktop shortcut to "C:\MM\Bin\Microsoft Garage\Mouse without Borders\MouseWithoutBorders.exe"

Personalize logon screen using local pictures

1. Create one folder named MouseWithoutBorders under \Windows\Web\ directory.
2. Drop your photos there (jpg only).
3. In a cmd windows, run del "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\Low\MM.Local.Indexer.txt" then restart Mouse without Borders.

Customize your keyboard layout

You may want to play around with your keyboard layout by mapping a virtual key to another one, you can come up with a new layout you would invent:) This feature is for advanced users only.

For example, if you want to convert your QWERTY keyboard to a DVORAK keyboard then these are steps:

•  Run the following commands as Admin to set the virtual key mappings (you can also use Regedit to do this):
  •  reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MouseWithoutBorders /v VKFrom /t REG_SZ /d "081,087,069,082,084,089,085,073,079,080,0219,0221,083,068,070,071,072,074,075,076,186,222,090,088,067,086,066,078,188,190,191,189,187" /f
  •  reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MouseWithoutBorders /v VKTo /t REG_SZ /d "222,188,190,080,089,070,071,067,082,076,191,187,079,069,085,073,068,072,084,078,083,189,186,081,074,075,088,066,087,086,090,219,221" /f
•  In the Settings form, check the option Use Key Mappings then you are good to go (default hotkey to toggle this option is Ctrl+Alt+Shift+K).

This is just an example. FYI, Windows does support Dvorak layout, the difference here is that this app skips the mapping when Ctrl key is down so Ctrl+[X,C,V] work as original layout.

The motherboard went out in my gaming computer (I call it The_Cray) 2 months ago. I received my tax return a month ago so I decided to not only buy a new gaming board, but also buy the parts to build a similar computer (The_Corsair) to replace my upstairs computer (DAD-HP-DESKTOP) as well. The new gaming mobo took a few days longer to get here than the mobo for the replacement build, so I built The_Corsair one first. Went off without a hitch. Flawless!

I was pumped when the gaming motherboard got here, having just finished this great i7-4970 based computer. Replacing a mobo is straight forward and not really a build. I expected it too, to be flawless. It wasn't. Odd things changed. The first thing I noticed when I booted up The_Cray was Windows wasn't activated and wouldn't activate for me. A long chat with a tech and eventually letting him/her take control of my system got that problem resolved.  !!!!!Thank you Microsoft Tech Support!!!!!

Once that activation issue taken care of, I noticed that, while I can get onto the Internet, I can't even see The_Corsair, DAD-LAPTOP, or my WDMyCloud network storage device.

I tried running the troubleshooter on that computer, and it told me nothing was wrong. I clicked on the "my problem was found" button and it picked up a list of what it could see and asked which was giving me trouble. Since it couldn't see my other devices, I couldn't tell it what the problem was, so the Troubleshooter insisted that there was no problems!?

I looked in all the right places to change share settings and privacy settings. They were all still set correctly, but I made a point of clicking the correct choice to be certain.

To make this even more perplexing, when I clicked on "This PC", even though it did not see all 3 of my other networked devices as computers and a storage drive, it did see 2 of them as media servers under mine, my son's and his girlfriend's profile. The network drive was see by its name, but , again, just as a media server. I could click on them and listen to music, look at pics, and watch videos. I could not access data on any of them.

Since this was a change that accompanied my new mobo somehow, I checked The_Corsair, in case this was an unexpected part of a very recent Windows update. I logged onto the newly built computer and found that everything was still perfect. I went to "Network" in the Explorer folder tree and clicked there. It took a moment to find all networked devices and got them all, including my son's PC and his girlfriend's laptop and The_Cray.

Clicking on The_Cray gave me a message that there was a network problem and I pressed "Diagnose". Under "Problems found" it tells me

On reading that, I thought the built in NIC was defective, so I installed a PCIe wireless adapter and unplugged the ethernet cable. It gave me exactly the same result and the ethernet adapter had.

It has been 2 decades and many versions of Windows since I worked on computers this much and I must be rusty because I have no clue where to go from here. It doesn't help the Win10 has scattered the appropriate settings to many different categories. No longer can you look in Control Panel and expect to find all the required choices there, on that screen. Some stuff came be found in "Control Panel" and somethings must be found in "Settings"?!?

Can someone PLEASE offer me some advice for this network problem?

I'll take my other 2 odd problems to 2 new postings...

ja tentei fazer de tudo ja liguei minha localizaçao ja desinstalei meu adaptador de video e ja instalei novamente pelo windows update e nada funciona alguem poderia me ajudar

I am getting some serious issues. When I try to log in I get this error on Windows 10:

"Sign In Needed"

"You may not proceed without being signed in to a profile."

If I try to re-sign in it just pops up with the Xbox grey box and closes and returns with the same error

My computer updated 2 days ago.  After it updated I've had the following issues and don't know how to fix them.

1)  A number of programs and shortcuts I used to pin on my taskbar will no longer stay pinned through a reboot.

2) The Windows 10 start menu is missing nearly all of my applications.  I use Classic Shell normally and stuff shows up there.

2B) If I pin a program to the Windows 10 start menu, I get a little grey box with gibberish as the title and it won't open.

3) My user directory is now missing my My Documents, My Downloads, My Pictures, and My Videos directories...the actual directories still exist (I had them moved to a custom location a long time ago) so luckily I didn't lose the information...

Is there a way to fix this without starting a new profile or resetting my software?  I really want to avoid those options if possible as I have a lot of custom settings that would take me forever to get put back together.  Thanks!!

N'arrivant plus à ouvrir mon compte Skype sur mon smartphone, j'ai enlevé le programme et je l'ai rechargé.

Après bien des péripéties je me retrouve avec un compte différent de mon ordinateur de bureau, alors qu'il ont le même pseudo.

Seuls les n° des contacts téléphoniques de mon smartphone apparaissent, mais pas mes contacts Skype.  

 Si on effectue une recherche aucun des 2 comptes n’apparaît lors d'une recherche que ce soit par nom ou par pseudo.

Tous ces problèmes sont apparus après la modification du code de mon compte Hotmail et que j'ai du ouvrir mon compte Skype sur mon smartphone avec le code du Hotmail, le code Skype étant refusé.

Si quelqu'un a eu le même problème et surtout a trouvé la solution, merci de me le faire savoir pour essayer de me sortir de cette situation loufoque. 

I understand that this question has been been asked so many times, but my wifi on my laptop (running windows 10) keeps disconnecting (no other devices in the house experience this) and a have tried every solution imaginable, including restarting my router, restarting my computer, turning off that infamous "save power by turning off this device" setting, trying every possible version of my network card's drivers, setting up a batch file to constantly ping my router, etc.

I have an Asus G55VW from 2012 and the network card is an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230. Everything (drivers and OS) is up to date.

Any other help would be appreciated.
