Hi
So I've been trawling all the topics here for the last few months, yes months, to find a solution to the fix/rotate the camera in Camera App in Win 10 that actually works.
First, I had 'we cannot find your camera issue'. Error code: 0xA00F4244(0xC00D36D5).
I sorted that out by deleting any/all driver folders for any camera/webcam in my laptop including the recycle bit and then went back to the ASUS website and downloaded the newest driver (which was Win 7 as there is NO Win 10 driver available). I manually
installed the driver (Camera Chicony 9059 CR Win 7 64 Z061005200450) even though I previously had Win 7 32bit. I got the Camera back but now it's upside down again!!! All these programs/apps using the webcam worked fine until the Windows 10 update 1607
in Sept 2016 and from then on after each update for 1607 the issue remains.
I have:
Asus SmartLogon, facial regonition, it's upside down now but worked fine for 4 years.
Asus Virtual Camera (came preinstalled and don't think I use this it's just there)
ManyCam webcam installed last week . I use for Skype as only program where I can 'select' it.
Solutions I tried:
- ran SFC = came back no issues
- ran appsdiagnostic = said the windows store cache may be corrupt, I've reset it, reinstalled it no difference
- regedit = added 32bit DWORD entry FLIP change the value from 0 to 1 or 1 to 0 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}\0000\Settings
- legacy hardware = I selected use legacy hardware in driver option but honestly don't know if this worked or was done.
- installed ManyCam = used 'rotate' in ManyCam settings. Opened Camera App selected ManyCam but the image is still upside down even though I rotated it in ManyCam settings.
- Used ManyCam for Skype = went to video settings in Skype and selected use ManyCam. The video is right way up but the logo is backwards. No problem I can live with that.
- device manager = tried to select ManyCam as Default Camera but there is NO setting for this. I think there used to be in previous Window versions.
- contacted ASUS support as I am a member = I was told there is no 'particular updated webcam driver for windows 10' 'please go back to previous version of windows. Yeah right !!! Bit too late for that.
THE ONLY THING I HAVEN'T TRIED IS TO UNSCREW MY LAPTOP AND TURN THE WEBCAM MANUALLY THE RIGHT WAY UP. Some people on here have actually done this as they were so frustrated. I'm not that sure about this.
I am a computer USER not a PROGRAMMER or HARDWARE TECHNICIAN. This is so frustrating. This has been going on far too long with no actual remedy which I don't understand. Just search the topics for Camera and you'll find thousands of entries/replies trying
to sort this out.
I'm wondering why the Camera App team just don't add a 'rotate/flip' function key on the Camera App screen itself?? I'm sure it was there before. It would sure solve a lot of time spent trying all these suggestions for fixes. If you go into Camera App
settings also, there is NO rotate/flip option either?
Can someone from the Camera App team please work on this issue. I have seen a lot of comments from a 'Tim A - Camera App team member'. Can you please help Tim??
I'm going to not do anything until next week 30.01.17and see if anyone comes up with a fix that actually works 100%.
Regards
