From my *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, I go to Settings, LAYOUT, CONVERSATIONS. There, I only see these two options:Show items in this order (newest /oldest on top), and When items have been deleted (show /hide).
I do not see the following options that will allow me to see individual emails (as opposed to emails in a thread or grouped, which is so, but so annoying):

customize email
conversation
show individual emails
save
