Windows 8.1 to Windows 10

I had a old HP Laptop and ran into a Hard Drive Boot Error. The old Laptop was Windows 8.1.

I purchased a new Windows 10 Laptop.

I purchased a WavLink to house the OLD hard drive.

I really need to find my old documents and place in my new Laptop.

I would like to remove the Old Start up on the drive.

I have noted that going to Geek Squad at Best buy for answers is not advised.
