Hey Guys,
I'm up late panicking hoping some one might have an answer.
We have a file server running 2012 storage server. One of the volumes was reporting an error so I scheduled in some time tonight to run a repair on it.
Having read some good things about 2012's chkdsk I thought this would be a quick process, however after some subsequent reading it looks like you have to run chkdsk from the command line specifying the spotfix option for the quickest fix.
I stupidly ran it from server manager by right clicking on the volume and choosing the "repair file system error" option.
This is on a 5.5TB data volume that is accessed by a lot of users who are going to start logging in in 6 hours time.
Server managed showed the repair had got to 13% after about an hour, but didn't change for a while, so I assumed server manager had frozen, so I closed it and opened it again. I can see the process is still running, but server manager no longer shows a progress bar (just a red bar to show the volume is locked.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get the progress bar up again, or know any way to show the progress of the running repair?
Thanks
Dave
