Syed Md Bilal suggsted I try this forum. My problem really relates to syncing Lumia phone contactss with Hotmail, but see below for the full story.
My system is Windows 10, 64-bit, Office Home and Business 2010. Phone is a Lumia 640XL.
I moved to the Lumia about 6 months ago. Previous was a Blackberry. It sync’d happily with my then email addresses which used .pst files to hold data.
I changed my ISP and decided to use Hotmail. Since then I have signally failed to manage to sync my contacts with my Lumia phone, which, thanks my last synch with the old .pst files is much fuller and more up to date. My calendar entries sync fine.
On a Microsoft Community site I read, it suggested setting up a new Hotmail account to see if that worked. I did that, and it hasn’t worked. As a result I now have two identical Hotmail accounts set up, and emails go into one or the other, usually duplicated, but not always. They show as a MAPI accounts. More frighteningly, I’ve started to lose contacts which I know were in there, as I had laboriously entered them in by hand from my Lumia’s memory.
What I need to do is consolidate the two Hotmail accounts, without losing any emails or Contacts, get rid of one of them (would it matter which one?) and then find a way to synch my Contact data from my Lumia with my Hotmail/Outlook.
As you will see, I am no techno wiz – over 75s rarely are!
