After applying the 1/21/2016 update (Windows 10 10586), I am having trouble with the Marvell wireless network controller, and the Surface 3 LTE modem device. After a shutdown/start cycle, Device Manager shows Code 38 for both: "The driver could not be loaded because a previous version of the driver is still in memory". So no network or internet connection, of course, and the Bluetooth adapter also vanishes when the Marvell is offline. Restarting the Surface clears the problem only until the next shutdown/start.
I have reinstalled the Marvell driver and also rolled it back (from 15.68.9037.59 to 15.68.9032.47) with no change in behaviour. I've also checked sfc /verifyonly, dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth, nothing shown. However, if I disable the Marvell driver, the Surface 3 modem behaves correctly. The Marvell adapter, Bluetooth, and mobile were working reliably before the update. I see that others are having trouble with the January update, but not so far this particular syndrome... is anyone else seeing this, or any suggestions for a fix other than (yet another) OS refresh or bare metal recovery? Many thanks!
