scanned documents show up in a pdf but when I try to send outlook email I hit send but nothing is received in outlook? help

I have new wireless HP office jet pro 8710.  I scanned 10 pages to my home desktop about 4000 kb which showed up as a pdf on my email under subject.  I then tried to send it to my outlook to save to a file but also to print.  It never appeared- about 12 hours ago.  Would my DPI settings be causing this failure to receive the email with the attachment?  Do you have any other suggestions. I can attach other articles on pdf and send to my outlook.
