How can we know if a patch from Microsoft is impacting other MS software than what the KB description says?
Background:
We have another non-MS application that is crashing after one of these patches is installed, and the vendor is just saying that they will not do anything from their side to fix it, instead all customers should refrain from applying the patch...
An example: KB3114366 and KB3114510, both for MS Project 2013, are according to the descriptions only impacting on MS Project 2013.
However, when these are installed and I search for the patch in 'Programs and Features', the same patch is listed both under Microsoft Lync 2013 and MS Project Standard 2013.
According to our IT-organisation this is evidence that the patch is or might impact also on Lync/Skype for Business and therefore we are forced to apply the patch (even if it's breaking another application). Is this correct?
