Since upgrading Office 365 - now with Excel 16, I am unable to open any excel files with a double click. Have tried a number of the solutions recommended in the community including:
Uninstall & reinstall
Quick Fix
Manage Add - Ins
Uncheck "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)".
File Block Settings
Both old and new excel files have the Office 365 Icon instead of the Excel icon in the documents folders and if you double click them the error message received is:
Install Office - we have detected these newer versions of office installed on your device. The link in this message refers to the uninstall instructions on the office support website. If checking Office version in Excel, it confirms no updates available.
The only way I can open excel files is by opening excel first and then open the file. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to remedy this issue. Operating system is Windows 7.
