I have Excel 2016 installed. When I double-click on an xlsx file (they all have a strange red square Office logo rather than the Excel logo they used to have with Excel 2007), it won't open in Excel 2016. Instead I am asked what program I want to use to
open it and get a list of programs to choose from that does not include Excel (it does include browsers and Adobe and Word 2016). The same happens when I go go to Settings/System/Default apps. Excel is not showing up in these lists. So I am stuck opening
Excel 2016 from the program list and then opening the xlsx file from inside Excel. It opens and saves fine from inside the program. But I really do want to open files by double-clicking. I have scrolled through so many answers but none help me. Anybody knows
how I can get Excel 2016 to show up in the apps to choose from so I can make it the default for this type of file (Excel workbooks with xlsx extensions)?
