My system came with Windows 7.
Once or twice a year I do a "Clean" install of Windows 10.
I boot to the Windows 7 disk (full version), Use Diskpart to remove the partition and then recreate it. ( I should just let Setup format the drive.)
I try to install Windows 10 using the Windows 10 media disc with the ISO.
Anyway, It used to work fine but now Windows 10 prompts me for a key code when I try to upgrade form Window 7 or 8.
I click the 'Reinstalling' option when it prompts me form the Product Key.
It does some stuff but then prompts me for a Product Key again, this time
without the reinstall option. I can't do anything until I enter a valid Product Key. so I exit.
I have since restored a disk image I created with 3rd part software I've been using for some time.
In was on the phone with Microsoft support yesterday and the day before for a very long time and I don't wish to use up my minutes because they are getting low. We were unable to get a proper Product key.
In fact. Microsoft called me to issue me a product Key but it didn't work. I get an invalid character on the 4th set of characters.
They gave me a new Case # but I was so frustrated that I closed the remote window before writing it down.
I do have the old one, though.
My PC was purchase in 2010
Any help will be appreciated.
