Hello! Maybe this is not possible...
I have created two Workbooks. Client will complete questions in WB2. I then drop the client-completed WB2 into a folder with WB1. When I open WB1 I get the "Update" flag... I click "Update" and like magic the data (magically) pops into the form! Yeah! No more cut and paste! But it's more complicated than that.
If multiple client-updated WB's get dropped in the folder and I open WB1 and get the Update flag... I need to make sure that the correct data is pulled from the correct sheet and placed into the correct ROW in WB1.
I do have a unique number... Column A in WB1 has numbers 1 through 300. So I was thinking of matching the same number in WB2 to the column in WB1.
{=VLOOKUP('BIM NOTICE.xlsx'!$H$13,A3:A302,1,FALSE)} ...('placed in column "I", WB1)
It worked... the number "1" reports in the cell (which is the number I was looking for). So, now that it found the correct number/row, I need to copy the client-response from WB2, (B34) to the WB1, column I.
{=VLOOKUP('BIM NOTICE.xlsx'!$H$13,A3:A302,1,FALSE)='[BIM NOTICE.xlsx]BIM Notice'!$H$13}
Try to say... if TRUE, then copy BIM Notice.xlsx H13 to BIM LOG (WB1) corresponding cell in column I.
Maybe Vlookup is not the best function to use? Match? Index? I had the best luck with VLOOKUP.
THANK YOU for any input or push in the right direction!!
