Making Labels with the label Outline in Word for MAC

I have Word for Mac (newest Version 2016) and when I got to create a sheet of labels (Avery 5160) the label outline is now missing. Since I never print the whole sheet at one time and I save the file I need the outlines to see where I can add text each time. Does anyone know when setting up a sheet of labels how to "show" the outlines before saving the sheet as a word file?

Hey,

So I have been working on a Word file for 3 days, and I continuously had Word open for 3 days. 

I forgot to manually save, but in the back of my head I guess I knew it would autosave. 

When I realized I hadn't saved I tried to but whilst saving, Word crashed. I don't know if it was saving to OneDrive or my computer (I only use Office for schoolwork, so I'm not an expert at this). It asked me if I wanted to reopen Word and restore my files what I obviously wanted so I clicked "Open". It opened again named "Document1" with nothing lost. So I tried to save it manually again, and again it freezed, I waited 5 minutes and then I decided to "Force Quit". 

This is where my problem started.

I can't find the file anymore.

I have been looking for it for the past 2 hours and tried everything possible (I hope this isn't true). I looked for the AutoRecovery folder in Finder but there is none. I looked for .tmp files, I checked if AutoRecovery was enabled (it was) and where it would store my file, but it is nowhere to be found. I looked in my OneDrive account and also nowhere, I looked in my trash online and offline, I used Terminal to look for it, just everything I can imagine. Then I stumbled on some points Office 2016 needed to work on, on the internet. One was that "AutoRecovery fails which leads to users' loss of files".

I guess that is what happened to me, but I guess I just want to make sure there's not some magical way to give me my file back.

PS: I have Office 2016 through my school, I never had to enter a serial number of some sort, but do have acces to all full versions, don't know if that may have anything to do with it but maybe, just maybe it does.

Please help I have an exam in two days and I'm desperate.

Hi Bob, Wendy,

Would this rational hold for a checkbox also? I have been driving myself crazy for the better part of a day to figure out how to do the following:

I have created 4 checkboxes on a worksheet, and whichever ones are checked/unchecked will dictate which rows are visible / hidden. I try the following code, and keep getting a Run-time error '438':

Object doesn't support this property or method

for this code:

Private Sub MaxPoint_Click()

   If Sheets("PAID MEDIA TEMPLATE - INT").MaxPoint_Check_Box.Checked Then

    Else

        MsgBox "False"

I was wondering if maybe I am referring to the Object in correctly - I renamed the check box from "Check Box 2" to MaxPoint_CheckBox. Or is it that you just can't do this in Mac? Like Wendy, I am used to doing VBA on Windows.


Unable to sync Sharepoint documents to my PC

I am trying to sync my sharepoint document library with my pc. i have succeeded with this on the PC at my workplace - but i am unable to follow the same procedure at home. Does it make any difference that i have Windows 10 Home - whereas at work i use windows 10 Pro ?

Can I link data and charts in PowerPoint to the source data?

I have the same problem with the grant access message. Powerpoint crashes a couple of times a day when I try to open a file. I have uninstalled Powerpoint and installed it again for 2 times now. At this moment I can work, but tomorrow morning can be different. The problems happen randomly. I am having problems for weeks now and I have had several times contact with the support department but no solution yet. Calling with them is always a hazard because of the poor telephone lines and the not understandable accents in language. Maybe writing will help ;-)

What I do is: I get a powerpoint file in my 'downloads' map from an external application, fanpagekarma.com and copy and paste text, tables, pie-stats and statistics of these presentations to a new file. I also import numbers from an Excel file to a powerpoint table. The ppt files in the downloads map are not useful anymore, so I remove them sometimes.

Is it possible that the new file will remain connected to the file in the downloads map?

Why else would the new file by opening ask for the file in the downloads map where a few statistics are copied from?

I hope you can help me, this has caused me a delay for weeks now: also Excel crashed a couple of times. This has been solved by reinstalling Office again. Today I had an update for all applications.

When I do a File Print or Insert File Printout from a PowerPoint to OneNote Classroom, the slides are now magnified and parts are cropped on the top or left of some slides. They look fine in my Content Library but not when I view the student pages that were distributed.  This started since Christmas and may be tied to the Chrome OS update? 

Office apps not working

I'm running office 365 on Windows 8.1pro

from today when i try to open office apps the following error appears;

the program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-string-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

Can somebody please assist me. Need to solve this urgently


I can no longer find the files I was copying

I have the same problem - however - I can no longer find the files I was copying.  I have checked the recycle bin and the local recycle bin and the files are gone.  I now have just empty folders. 

Is there anywhere that I can recover the files?

How to shift entire table down when inserting copied cells from another sheet and not just part of the table?

Hi!

So i have to copy and paste around 800 rows from one sheet into a table in another sheet. I copied the cells and clicked on the first row on the table in the second sheet. Now keep in mind that the copied rows have less columns than the table destination. After clicking on the first row of table destination and click “Insert Copied Cells”, a box pops up saying “Shift rows down.” or “Shift rows right”. I need the entire rows to be shifted down but when I click “shift rows down”, ONLY the same number of columns as the copied cells are shifted down. So all the columns to the right remain unchanged. When my co worker completed this step, the entire row was shifted down. Please anything would help as I have tried everything!

RE Sharepoint Online: Configuration options when Connecting a SharePoint List Filter Web Part to a List View Web Part

Hi,

When I try to connect a List Filter Web Part to a List View Web Part, (to filter the list view based on what is in the List Filter) a configuration window pops up.  The configuration window does not provide options indicated in posts on how to connect the webparts (such as an option to select a given column to be filtered in the list).  I can only choose a connection type (options are "Get Parameters From" and "Get Filter Values From")  When I select either, the window closes and I cannot proceed with configuration.

By editing the web-part for the filter, I got to where I can select (in the filter web-part) the items I want to filter on, but can not translate the filtering down to the list web part because of this.


Is there a work around or should I wait for a future release?  Are you seeing the same thing?

One Note, sharing notebooks is only possible in the online one notes and not from any other devices

Hi all,

I use One Note from my workstation and from my Iphone. When I try to invite people to one of my Notebooks I get the following error message:

The server couldn't complete this action. Error Code: 0x80fe7597

I can only share my Notebooks from the online One Notes application but non of my local applications.

Anybody can help out?

Hi Ran Gao,

I tried this suggestion on my Office365 SharePoint settings yesterday morning, and it didn't work. I just tried uploading a DOCX as a template for a document content type in an existing team site, and I still got the "Request Access" screen.

Any ideas?

Dynamic Chart Titles in Power Pivot Charts

I have created a Power Pivot chart and want to add a dynamic title linked to splicer option selected.  The usual way I would do this would be to add a title location in the formula bar of the Chart Title.

In Excel 2016 365 this doesn't seem to work.  I can use textboxes to get around the problem but they don't look as good as using the title label.

Has anyone else come across this problem and found a solution?

I am going to take an online course for Project Managers and this is the requirement (see below), is it possible to use the current Microsoft Project 2016 that we have, or will I need to install 2010.

Requirement:
This program is not Mac compatible. It can only be taken on a PC. It is compatible with the Windows XP and later operating systems and IE 7 and later browsers.  There are no specific computer requirements other than an Internet connection, e-mail account, Microsoft Word (for assignment submissions), and Windows Media Player (which is available as a free download). We recommend that you use the latest version of Internet Explorer in place of other Web browsers.

You either need to purchase Microsoft Project 2010 before enrolling in this program or you must already have it installed on your computer.

You can’t use Microsoft Project 2007 or any previously released versions of the Microsoft Project software for this program or Microsoft Project 2013 or any future software for this program. This is a hands-on course that calls out specific keystroke commands. The ribbon menu you’ll use was introduced in 2010, which means all previous editions will not be referenced correctly with the keystrokes. Future software (2013+) includes additional functions, features and menu options.  Additional compatibility challenges may exist with using the provided practice files.

You can use Microsoft Project 2010 Standard for this program; however, the program will also cover some features/ functions that are only available in the Professional edition. The main difference is that you won’t be able to do the hands-on exercises associated with the more advanced functions.

Currently, the new onedrive sync client (Next Generation Sync Client) is available in preview:

I have tried to download and install this new client following the instructions at:

For some reason, existing Onedrive for Business clients having already Sharepoint libraries in sync are not being replaced with the Next Generation Client.

I would like to ask what your experiences are with replacing the Onedrive for Business client with the new client. Are you facing the same problems? And to those who succeed in this, what is the method to disable the onedrive for business client completely?

Access Web Database - Date Parameters

Hi,

I am creating a task management app with Access 2013 Web on a sharepoint site. I have a simple query with tasks details and am trying to create a filter for the date to be between 2 date parameters. I have defined the 2 parameters ([StartDate] and [EndDate]) and then created a criteria to filter out my field between the 2 parameters.

When I go to save my query it says "Hang on while we save your changes" and eventually times out and gives me an error stating "System resource exceeded".

This seems pretty simple to me but I am not sure what I am missing.

Data recovery solution for our 365 account

We are using office 365 in our business administration. Ours is a new company. I would like to know if I should opt for data backup and recovery for my 365 accounts.  

Our technical manager suggested using cloud backup for office 365. I read through the features of a cloud to cloud backup solutions for office 365 ( http://www.storagepipe.com/services/office365backup/ ) I think it can benefit us. But, is such a data recovery service needed for a trusted service like office 365? 

I would appreciate your advice in this regard.
