Excel

Is it possible that a cell on the same workbook sheet can copy another cell at the first use but when reopening the original cell can be overwritten but the copied cell remains at the original value and is protected?

Missing Project or Library, Causing Excel to Crash and Corrupting the File

Howdy,

We run Excel 2013 on Office 365 with Windows 10. I have some Excel files the use Power Query to merge tables from from a series of workbooks. There are 7 of these 'master table' files, 1 for each department. Once a week, each department head will update his or her master table for the latest data. Recently, we've had some department head's files throwing the error "Unable to find project or library" upon opening the file. Excel promptly crashes and the file is then corrupted and cannot be opened by anyone after that. I then have to rebuild the file and queries for that department.

A couple of key points:

1.  Once Excel crashes, other Excel files still work as they should. This leads me to believe the issue is related to Power Querey

2.  Because of the immediate crash, I am unable to get into VBA to find which project/library is missing

3.  Once a department head has a crash on their machine, if they open any other department's file, that file will get corrupted also. This leads me to believe the issue might be with the machine more than the Excel file. Since it seems that any working file will open correctly on a working machine - like mine.

Google has been less than helpful on this topic, I was hoping someone here could offer assistance. Please let me know what further information you may need. Thanks in advance.

Office 365 public website for non-profit organization

Dear Community,

we are a non-profit organization and we are using office 365 with non-profit licenses. If it comes topublic website, we are redirected to two offers: GoDaddy and Wix.

I called GoDaddy and they are not aware of any offer related to non-profit organizations. They told me, that the prices visible on the website applys.

They told me I should ask Microsoft if they have further information about GoDaddy offers for public websites for non-profits.

For Wix, I see on the web site that there is a special offer for one year. But before using that, I would like to get a confirmation related to GoDaddy.

Our budget is very small and we would be happy to get a small website for free...

Best Regards

Warning when trying to upgrade to Office 2016

We had a local Exchange server which we phased out and migrated to Office 365 in the cloud so the on premise exchange server no longer exists. After that we started upgrading MS Office on the users workstations to 2016 however one user was giving me the error below. We have already deployed the reg key to disable the SCP lookup so not sure why only his workstation seems to think there is a local Exchange server 2007. How can I get rid of that warning so I can upgrade him to Office 2016.

Modern View Grouping shows an "unassigned" file when it is expanded with default set to collapsed

Split from this thread.

I am having a similar experience in SharePoint Online where there is a phantom "unassigned" grouping with one file that is not visible.

- Modern View Grouping shows an "unassigned" file when it is expanded with default set to collapsed.

- Modern View Grouping does not show an "unassigned" file when the default is set to expanded. The "unassigned" does not show up when collapsed and re-expanded.

- No variation of Classic View shows the "unassigned" file.

- Grouping by different columns does not show any "unassigned" files in Modern or Classic views with any setting.

- Grouping is by two columns, but "unassigned" always shows up for either of these columns individually when Modern View and collapsed is selected.

- There are documents awaiting check in.

- There are no documents waiting assignment of the metadata.

- The columns are both choice types. There are no extra strings or funny characters on any row.

- There are only 45 documents in library currently. No "unassigned" data exists on any row in the all documents view.

The problem is not horrible, but the user group wants an explanation as they are convinced there is a file out there they cannot see.

Any help is appreciated.

Accessibility of office 365

I am wondering this and this has really been bugging me, if you have office 365 on a business account, can you activate the product on another account? or could you use the product ID on your business account to activate it on your personal one? I am being completely serious but if there isn't then what would be able to work?

365 Groups - adding a field

In SPO, I have a desire to manage and view team membership based on title and role but ideally have this link to Office 365 Groups so that my users don't need to maintain multiple lists when people move on and off teams.  Is there a possiblity with 365 Groups to add fields (such as roles) and make this a one stop shop?

Multiple hyperlinks embedded in single image on sharepoint 2016 / Online

I have an image I'd like to post with different sections of that image which I'd like to have hyperlinks embedded so that they take the user to different locations.  I can't seem to figure out how to do this in SharePoint 2016 / SharePoint Online.  Are there new tools or tricks to allow me to do this?  I've read a few posts of past SharePoint versions that allow the site creator to utilize a hotspot within SharePoint designer, but I don't believe there is a SharePoint designer that works with SharePoint 2016 / online quite yet.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Powerpoint presenter view through Webex or other method

0

Hello,

Thanks in advance for responses. I have a presentation, in house to my office tomorrow. It's a Powerpoint. I have a lot of notes to go off of that can be seen in speaker view while I present. The problem is that I need to put the presentation on our large conference room screen. There is no wired hookup, so I either have to drag and drop it in a shared file or do a webex. The long and short of it is that I need to be able to present off presenter view, but with a shared screen in webex. I need them to see the Presentation in normal present mode without my notes. The alternative is to present off my laptop and off the conference room screen (Wall mounted TV with a mouse). The issue with that is I would have to control two mice (i.e click both each time I need to change a slide) this would get very clunky. Any input would be greatly appreciated

Office 365 Client updates and WSUS

Hello,

The Office 365 Client updates in WSUS have a message saying:

"This update is not intended to be directly deployed via Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). To deploy this update, you will need to use System Center Configuration Manager."

Does this mean you can't update these clients without SCCM? If we approve the update in WSUS will it still work?

Thanks!

Office 365 Corporate and Personal Data

Hello -

We are using Office 365 Enterprise.  Each user is entitled to deploy onto 5 PCs.  We want to let them put the excess onto personal assets.  Issue is that we can only allow the deployment of Office Apps (excel, etc) onto the personal devices with NO access to exchange, sharepoint, onedrive, or other internal data on non-corporate assets.

This can be done with EMS or Azure Active Director P5.

How else can this be done that is more cost effective?

Can you have multiple portals and split the licenses?

Thanks

Different domain names want to share the same "planner", "sharepoint",....

Hello,

Our company has a few international branches and they're using different domain name with Office 365.

We would like to share some documents with them with the option e.g. "Everyone except external users"

Since Office 365 consider different domain names external users, it's complicated to share doc with them.

Is any way to make different domain names become "internal users"?

Thank you very much.

Planner - stability issues; lack of sorting; inability to drag/drop between plans

I really want to love PLANNER, but it seems like it's not quite ready for prime time yet.  I don't see it as an option in the PULLDOWN LIST - so maybe that's the reality.  It's not released yet and, as a Gold Partner, I should just be happy we have access to the ALPHA?

First off, it's not stable.  I worked on a plan for a couple hours last night...then tried again this morning -- and the site was unavailable.  The plan appeared later, but wouldn't completely load.  Now it appears that some plans load, others dont.  UGH..

Second - there really needs to be a sorting option within buckets.  I drag/dropped certain tasks into the order I wanted, but they reverted back.  UGH...

Third - it would be nice if Sub-BUckets were an option (I realize that's a slipper slope as others will want more and more sub-buckets) but why not?

Fourth - Without subbuckets, then the ability to drag tasks from one plan to another plan is a necessity.

I'm sure I'll think of more - but until the stability is resolved, this app is unusuable in my opinion.

Windows updates does not seem to update office 365 even with give me updates for other Microsoft Products

HI

Have I misunderstood - does Windows Update not include office 365?

I have suspected this for a while - I can nearly always get an update by manually selecting Account Office Update even when Windows Update reports that the PC is up to date.

I have just checked this on 5 machines owned by different organisations running on different networks etc. In each case, Windows Update reported that it had checked and all was up to date but then forcing an update form within an office product resulted in an update to office downloading. (All Windows 10 pro all office 365 subscriptions).

Explanations?

Change of Ownership of Multiple OneNote Classbooks

0

We have a teacher who set up several ClassNotebooks and has now left.  IT want to close his account, however experience from a previous teacher leaving means that the students will loose access to their work when the account is closed!

We need to transfer the ownership of each ClassNotebook to a new teacher with all the students work.  Having read another thread it says to create a new notebook in the new teachers onedrive and copy across section by section, however it won't let me copy the students work out into the new teachers Notebook.

In total we have 27 notebooks to copy across and I am sure you can appreciate that copy and pasting to a new notebook is going to be so time consuming it is unworkable.  We do not have an Azure account and therefore cannot use the PowerShell script.

I am extremely nervous about loosing all of the students work when the teachers account is deleted from our school active directory.

I look forward to your suggestions.
