I have found Word 2016 the most frustrated program I have ever used. And I have used many.
I set up my document (make that dissertation) with all the formatting styles that were required from my school.
All of sudden it was changing the name of my documents all by itself! crashing, and many other frustrating things.
I was told it was the end of the semester and I was required to uninstall and reinstall from my school. Nice if I would have known that BEFORE it started messing up my dissertation. It is my dissertation.....something that is just a tiny bit important to me. Almost 300 pages long. When working on the dissertation we are not in the habit of stopping just because the semester changes, we just keep working on it...and paying tuition every semester, just in case you did not know.
Ok I did that, uninstalled and reinstalled...after I finished screaming thinking my dissertation was totally messed up. Ok some things were fixed back after I installed it again, but not all. Takes a long time to go through a 300 page document.
Current Problem: Now whenever I try to apply a style I highlight what I want changed.
Then hit the style I want.
Nothing happens!!!
I have spent sooooo much time trying to make this program work. I get one thing to work and then something else is not working. At this rate I will have to sign up for another semester and pay more tuition just to finish my dissertation.
If I work online with Office 365 it works just fine. But when I try to work offline it has a million things that mess up.
Is this Microsoft's way of trying to get everyone to subscribe to Office 365 ($99 a year for home) and work online all the time? If so, the infrastructure for everyone using Microsoft online all the time will not work. The infrastructure i.e. telephone lines were set up for telephones not the internet and they are already overcrowded so imagine what is would happen if everyone using it would have to be online all the time. Is Trump going to fix this?
Ok I am just being paranoid, but I just wonder.....
If not then why can't they fix these bugs that people keep talking about, Uncle Bill ??????? Yes I keep mine updated.
Anyway, I do need an answer to the problem about styles.
And by the way why don't I have a icon for picture? Is this something the student version does not get? There are other things I put up there only to see a circle instead of some kind of icon. Hard to figure out which circle I need to push!
Also I am in a document that says "compatible mode". What does that mean? Does that make a difference?
