Hi community
Similar questions might have been asked here a lot, but none of the answers given really solved my problem or made me achieve what I want.
My problems basically are about how Outlook.com handles contacts from other services (such as Facebook or Skype).
On Outlook.com, I basically see three contacts folders: "Kontakte" (which is what I want), "Facebook-Kontakte" (which is not what I want) and "Skype-Kontakte" (which I don't want either).
Problems:
1) How do I get rid of the "Facebook-Kontakte" folder? That question has been asked on the internet, the answer has always been to unlink Facebook from Outlook.com. But since the feature of linking to Facebook is no longer available, that's nothing I can
do.
2) How do I get rid of the "Skype-Kontakte" folder? I already linked Outlook.com to my Skype account, unlinked it, linked it again, this doesn't change anything about the folder in question (or it's contents). At the moment of taking the screenshot, Outlook.com
is linked to my Skype account, and still only displays those two "contacts", even though there are numerous contacts stored in Outlook.com.
Anyway, it seems like the way Skype contacts are managed in a linked Outlook.com account has changed from a contacts folder to Skype just making use of the main contacts folder in Outlook.com, but not for the better:
3) Is there any way to make Skype smarter with regard to contacts management? All Outlook.com contacts are shown in the Skype pane as shown in the screenshot, regardless of whether they actually have Skype, or even a phone number.
Is there any way to make Skype as smart as say, WhatsApp on an Android phone? Just "using" the contacts which have Skype, ignoring all the others?
I tried entering the Skype username of some of my contacts into the "chat address" field (tried only the username, tried live:username and skype:username), but Skype doesn't even seem to read that field, those contacts are still shown as if only callable
through their phone number.
Any help is appreciated, it would also be great if someone could explain how Skype contact management works from a technical point of view. Does Skype store contacts in a database of its own, completely detached from th Outlook.com database, and just accesses
the Outlook.com databaseat runtime in addition to the Skype database? Or does Skype make entries into the Outlook.com database? Or is it supposed to store all of its contact information in the "Skype-Kontake" folder within the Outlook.com
database?
I already posted this somewhere else (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/opeople-osharing/skype-contacts-and-outlookcom/2af3588b-61f9-4494-b40e-531b21b46a4d), but was told to post it in the Skype community as well.
Thanks to anyone providing information.
Cheers,
Peter
