Having just switched from one internet provider to another, I chose to run a speed test to verify the up / download capability. Not having a url handy, I "Googled" speed test. Being lazy (and foolish) I selected the first speed test that popped up. It was
reuptedly a speed test provided by Google. In the middle of running this test, about 10 seconds into the process, the test "locked up" and would not run or shut down. With the screen totally locked, I was forced to do a hard shutdown via the power button.
Because someone will ask, I am using:
Dell Inspiron 1520 machine with Win 7 upgraded to Win 10. To the best of my knowledge, all Win updates are current.
What works:
Via the task bar, I can access, Chrome, Adobe Acrobat, Word, and outlook.
The Windows (start) icon via "right-click) only
What I cannot access and will not function:
The Win (start) Icon will not function via "left click".
Edge icon, nor is Edge accessible via any other function
The windows notifications center indicates 1 notification but will not open via left or right click
I cannot seem to access any windows updates.
Any suggestions about the potential cause and thus the clearing up this issue? I am considering using my Win 7 program disk to attempt to repair the system. I am currently about 500 miles from that disc though, so it will be about a week before I can try
this.
