So my computer seems to keep dropping my default gateway after a Windows Update install on 6/15/17, and I don't know why. This issue only started after I shut down my computer to install the update and turned it on the next day. In the ipconfig/all below
you will see a default gateway (192.168.0.1), but when I first startup the computer thats not there until I run the network through the troubleshooter first.
Once it goes through the troubleshooter it comes back with "the default gateway is not available" - fixed. The computer will say the internet is available (no limited yellow triangle issue) as if everything is fine.
However I can't connect to the internet still and after a minute the no internet access triangle comes back. I start the troubleshooter and it just repeatedly does the same thing, saying the default gateway isn't available and it was fixed.
I've tried everything I can think of. ipconfig/release renew and flush dns. netsh winsock reset catalog, netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log and the ipv6 reset, netsh int tcp set heuristcs disabled, netsh int tcp set global autotuning level=disable, netsh int tcp
set global rss=enabled.
Whenever I try to ipconfig/renew it will time out and say it couldn't connect to the dhcp server. I've installed the latest drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled them. This is an ethernet connection and there is no wireless adapter on my desktop.
I've tried to enter all of this manually as well (ip address, subnet, gateway) and still nothing. I tried to do a system restore and it wouldn't do it for some reason. I've done a complete system reset - nothing. All of my wireless devices like phones/tablets/laptops
can connect no problem. I've tried different ethernet ports, and still nothing.
I did a ping test (below) and it came back 0% loss, however yesterday I did one and it was a 75% loss. What I think is happening is my computer can't maintain the default gateway, and when I run it through troubleshooter it will reset the ethernet adapter and
whenever it does that it comes back with a fixed default gateway
and thinks everything is fine and then immediately drops it again until I start it all over again. I'm not extremely technical savvy so what I'm saying could be completely untrue. My motem and router is built into one and my isp installed it personally, and
there isn't anythng I can use to log into the router to change.
I don't think this is a router issue, because my ps4 is a wired connection also and it didn't have any issues connecting to the internet and completing downloads. Again not computer savvy so could be completely unrelated but since this only started after a
recent Windows Update I really believe the issue is isolated to the computer, but just can't figure out what to do. Also the Tunnel Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface doesn't always appear in the ipconfig/all so idk what that means or really what it is.
