AOL, my main email carrier, recently sent out a notice stating they are going to start charging everyone for AOL Desktop; but I was told I could continue with my AOL mail without the desktop, and could access my AOL emails through whatever web browser I
choose; but then I remembered Outlook, which is a program I've never used, which can "collect" emails from different carriers, such as AOL, so that everything is simplified, in one place.
Here's my question: I have a CD of Microsoft Office 2010, which comes with Outlook as one of several programs, but I never downloaded the Outlook program because I thought I'd never need it, since I've always used AOL Desktop. What I'd like to learn about is
the difference between my Outlook 2010 and my Microsoft account's Outlook -- the basic version, not premium. Can I direct all my AOL emails to Outlook Live, or is there an advantage -- more bells and whistles -- to using my CD's Outlook 2010? Again, I see
online that there's an option to upgrade to Outlook Live Premium, but rather than pay more, I'd just use my Microsoft's Outlook 2010, which is already paid for.
Finally, can I transfer into Outlook -- either the Live Outlook or 2010 Outlook -- whatever is in my AOL folders, mail I've saved for years?
I can not seem to find any "save" folders on Outlook Live but that may be because the "Archive" section functions the same way as "AOL Folders."
Can I create numerous folders on Outlook, too -- both Live and 2010 -- so that I can continue to save my different AOL mail by subject?
And how does Spam work on Outlook? On AOL, they've a very good spam filter so I don't worry about being overloaded with junk mail.
Finally, how do I forward all my AOL mail, from my multiple AOL accounts, to Outlook, both the 2010 and Live versions?
