I can't get Outlook and Gmail to communicate between my iPhone and my laptop. I am used to travelling and rely on my iPhone 6 to check/reply emails
and calendar events but can't do so. Most other people in the company only run form their laptops an apparently don't have an issue
I designed a rudimentary design of experiments to see what was communicating together.
From my home email address I sent 4 emails to my work email which runs on a gmail server but the company primarily uses Outlook to manage their emails and calendar. I prefer Outlook over Gmail due to years' of experience with Outlook.
Here are my tests:
Test 1 – delete from Outlook on phone only
Test 2 – delete from Gmail on phone only
Test 3 – delete from Outlook on laptop only
Test 4 – delete from Gmail on laptop only.
All 4 emails came across all 4 email viewers by 1130
I then followed the instructions for each of those emails and deleted the appropriate ones from the appropriate viewer at 1146
I stayed out of email until 1317 and then checked the results:
Outlook on phone – still had “Test 3 – delete from Outlook on laptop only”; all others gone
Gmail on phone – still had “Test 3 – delete from Outlook on laptop only”; all others gone
Gmail on laptop – still had “Test 3 – delete from Outlook on laptop only”; all others gone
Outlook on laptop – Still had Tests 1, 2 and 4. Test 3 was gone.
Outlook on my laptop isn’t “sending or receiving” updates from Gmail on phone or laptop or from itself on the phone, but the other three appear to be communicating.
Another issue is none of my created folders are linked between the two.
I am trying to quit Outlook and go cold-turkey with Gmail but am really struggling to do so.
