How can I create a system image backup on a USB thumbdrive?
I click on Start > Control Panel > Backup and Restore > Create System Image.
It shows the 128 GB USB thumbdrive under Hard Disk. But it shows the warning "not a valid backup location".
The thumbdrive is formatted with NTFS with the default block size -- 4096, IIRC. Or maybe I selected 4096. I guess I don't IIRC ;->)
(BTW, I repartitioned the thumbdrive so that the entire 128 GB is indeed available. Originally, it was limited to 32 GB!)
But if I connect an external hard disk with NTFS (block size unknown), it shows it under Hard Disk without warning.
I thought there should be no difference between a USB thumbdrive and an external hard disk. That is, I thought a USB thumbdrive looks like a hard disk to the system -- or at least, they are treated the same.
(I did not try to use the hard disk because it has valid data on it. I just assume that would work, since there is no warning.)
In any case, does this mean that I can only use a bona fide hard disk to create a system image backup?
