I'm seeing some strange behavior with the Find my device option in Windows 10.
It was working fine until a few days ago. When I go to account.microsoft.com/devices, I can see the tablet, and it says it was last seen a few days ago with an accurate location of where I was at the time.
1. I log into account.microsoft.com/devices, see my device, and select "Find my device."
2. It cycles for a bit in the browser window (same behavior in both IE and Chrome), then I get a Windows 10 notification outside the browser that says:
"Find My Device
An administrator tried to locate this device on account.microsoft.com/devices"
3. At the same time the browser window is still cycling waiting for a response and eventually times out with this error:
"We can't reach your device right now. It might be offline."
Clearly it reached my device because my device told me I was trying to locate it. I've tried this process from the device itself and from another device, but the behavior is always the same. I tried clicking on the notification when it pops up, but it
just opens another browser window for account.microsoft.com/devices that gives me the same offline message again.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
BTW, it's a HP ElitePad 1000 g2 updated from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 about 6 months ago and has been able to "find my device" just fine until a few days ago. One of my Mac-loving iFriends was bragging about how easy it was to find her phone and tablet,
so I was showing her that I could do it, too. Very embarrassing when it didn't work, and now I've wasted 3 hours trying to troubleshoot. :(
